We would like to highlight the meeting organized by the ALVEARE LECCE Association entitled:
The Deer Cave: "an unfolding tale, a shared history"
Following the Goddess's trail in prehistory means navigating archaeological discoveries, interpretative hypotheses, and multidisciplinary approaches, not always aligned with academic scholarship. The chronological and geographical fragmentation of the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods has often made a unified interpretation of prehistoric cults linked to the sacred feminine difficult. Yet, since the studies of Marija Gimbutas, the hypothesis of a symbolic centrality of the Great Goddess has become widely recognized in scholarly debate.
The work of the association fits into this framework Lecce Beehive, which promoted and organised moments of research, dissemination and comparison dedicated to prehistory of Salento and to the cults of the sacred feminine, helping to keep alive a heritage of studies and critical questions that would otherwise risk being marginalized or forgotten.
As part of the 2026 review entitled On the trail of the Goddess in Salento – we report for the series of Meetings on Elettra Ingravallo
Friday, March 14, 6:00 PM
