This book deals with the meaning of the complex paintings of Grotta dei Cervi, a prehistoric cave located in Puglia, Southern Italy. The interpretation of his art has hitherto groped in the dark, it has been considered a sacred expression produced in a kind of Sanctuary; but nothing more. The Grotto has much of the ornate sanctuaries of France and Spain, the size of the galleries, the sweep of the halls, the profusion of art, the multi-entry floor plan.
