The texts collected here, edited by Luciana Percovich, were presented at the conference (Rome, May 2014) in honor of Marija Gimbutas, twenty years after her death. The conference recalled her figure as a woman and as an intellectual of rare preparation and vision, who brought to light the refined civilization of Neolithic Europe. And, honoring the spirit of his research and her multidisciplinary method, he has called together scholars who have long been engaged in re-reading the history of Italy, from the Paleolithic to the rise of Rome, beyond the confines of official historiography. This tribute to Marija Gimbutas was accompanied by the work of artists of various disciplines and languages and their visual testimonies are reported in the book.
